Guidelines for Authors

Guidelines for Authors

The editorial process will only begin if the submission of the manuscript complies with the guidelines established in this document. Otherwise, it will be returned for compliance with the journal's guidelines.

1) The Journal Diálogos Críticos (Criticall Dialogues) only accepts the publication of original articles that have not been previously published in other scientific journals or in book form. Articles presented at scientific events may be submitted for editorial consideration, provided that they are duly informed, in the abstract field, in the electronic submission process. All submitted articles undergo a plagiarism check using specific software. However, the person responsible for the submission is responsible for the entire content of the content and preservation of third-party copyrights.

2) Revista Diálogos Críticos adopts the ABNT publication standards (NBR 14724 and ABNT NBR 6022), for works in the vernacular, and the APA, for works in other languages: "Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th edition, 2010) )".

Here we remind you of the word limits for each type of publication: Articles (up to 10,000 words), Book Reviews (up to 2,500 words) and Research Notes (up to 4,000 words).

4) It is essential that the material does not contain any form of authorship identification, which includes reference to previous works by the author(s), mention of institutions to which they are linked, as well as information contained in the document properties fields .
Authors who have their submissions accepted for publication will have the opportunity, during the final review, to include necessary data. We established a limit of 5 authors per submitted manuscript. The possibility of 6 authors will be evaluated by the journal's editorial team.

5) The submission metadata must be filled in correctly and completely. The metadata contains the information necessary for the publication of the article. Once the article is published, there will be no change in the data related to the document, except in cases of responsibility of the journal's editorial board. This includes changing the authorship or adding new authors to the article.

6) The original texts must be submitted via the internet by registering the author on the journal's website.

7) When registering, please fill in all the form data as requested with the best possible precision, especially the "metadata" part. This facilitates the search for your article by the journal's indexes and search system. See item 5, which deals with the relevance of the metadata and the correct filling of the authors' data in the journal's system.

1) Formatting guidelines

A. The manuscript, being an article, in total must not exceed 10,000 words, from the Abstract to the References, including Tables, Figures and Annexes, in A4 format, and must be paginated from the Abstract (ABNT NBR 6028), which will receive page number 1.

B. Font: Liberation Serif or Times New Roman, size 12, throughout the text, including references, notes, tables, etc.

C. Margins: 3cm top / 2cm sides.

D. Spacing: double spaced throughout the entire manuscript, including Cover Sheet, Abstract, Body Text, References, Annexes, etc.

E. Alignment: justified

F. Indentation of the first line of the paragraph: tab = 1.5cm

G. Numbering of pages: in the upper right corner.

H. Internet Addresses: All "URL" addresses (internet links) in the text (eg: http://pkp.sfu.ca) must be active and lead directly to the cited document.

2) Elements of the manuscript

The elements of the manuscript must be presented in the following order: Title page without identification, Abstract and Abstract. The body of the text starts on the second page and there continue the Footnotes, References, Annexes, Tables and Figures.

A. Unidentified title page: Original title and compatible title in English. No author identification; Abstracts in Portuguese and English: paragraphs with a maximum of 200 words with the title Abstract written on the first line below the header. At the end of the abstract, list at least three and at most five keywords in Portuguese (in lowercase and separated by semicolons). The abstract in English (Abstract) must be faithful to the abstract in Portuguese, however, not a "literal" translation of it. That is, the translation must preserve the content of the abstract, but also adapt to the English grammatical style. The Abstract must be followed by the keywords (English version of the keywords). It is suggested to use keywords derived from the terminology in Psychology from BVSPsi or Thesaurus from Psycinfo. In the case of submission of book reviews and research notes, the abstract is not required.

B. Text Body: It is not necessary to put the title of the manuscript on this page. The subsections of the body text do not start on a new page. Their titles should be left justified, have only the first letter capitalized and numbered (eg '1. Method and discussion' in empirical articles). The subheadings of the subsections must be in italics, have the first letter capitalized and be numbered subsequently (for example, the subheadings of the subsection '1.2. Research Techniques' ). Titles and subtitles must not be followed by a period. If there are subdivisions in the text, a maximum of three levels of subtitles numbered subsequently (example: 1, 1.1, 1.1.1) are recommended.

The words Figure, Table, Annex that appear in the text must be written with the first letter in capital letters and accompanied by the number (Figures and Tables) or letter (Annexes) to which they refer. Suggested locations for inserting figures and tables should be indicated in the text. Expressions such as "the Table above" or "the Figure below" should not be used, as in the diagramming process their location can be changed. The standards do not include the names Tables or Graphics. All tables must be made in Word.

Underlines, Italics and Bolds: Use italics for words or expressions that constitute "foreign words", such as self, locus, etc. and underlined for other words you wish to underline. Reserve bold for headings.

Always give credit to the authors. All names of authors/institutions whose works are cited must be followed by the date of publication. All studies cited in the text should be listed in the References section or in Notes if not published.

C. Notes: They must be indicated in the text by superscript numbers and presented immediately after the Body of the text.

D. References: Start a new page for the References section, with this title centered on the first line below the header. Only works mentioned in the text should appear in this section.
Do not leave extra space between quotes. References must be cited in alphabetical order by the authors' last name, according to the APA rules and formatting indicated in the examples below. Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (2010, 6th edition) to check for standards not mentioned here.

E. Annexes: They should only be included if they contain information considered indispensable. The Attachments must be presented each one on a new page. The Annexes must be indicated in the text and presented at the end of the manuscript, identified by the capital letters of the alphabet (A, B, C, and so on), if there are more than one.

F. Tables: Must be prepared in Microsoft Word or LibreOffice Text Document. Each table starts on a separate page. The word Table is left-aligned on the first line below the header and followed by the number corresponding to the table. Type the title of the table on the left, in italics and without a period. Only the first letter of the title and proper names should be capitalized.

G. Figures: They must be of the JPG file type and presented in a new page. They must not exceed  15 cm in width by 20 cm in length. The word Figure is left-aligned on the first line below the header and followed by the number corresponding to the figure. Type the title of the figure on the left, in italics, and without a period. Only the first letter of the title and proper names should be capitalized.
